Position Description

Job Description Summary

Individual Contributor. Full line sales representative with the requirement to profitably maintain and grow Saalfeld sales by developing and executing Key Account Plans with assigned (high transactional to consultative mix) accounts. Provides insights for development of Customer Value Propositions. Provides timely feedback on market customer and competitive activity influencing the market. Responsible for developing/attaining annual business revenue budgets. Develops the annual Account Plans including recommended action on opportunities agreed to in the Business Review and review with manager for input and approval. Analyzes business conditions identifies opportunities and recommends solutions. Maintains knowledge of priority customers; operational practices customer base supply channels service expectations and financial requirements. Accounts are primarily transactional in nature with low complexity.

  • Saalfeld Redistribution, a business of Veritiv Operating Company, is searching or an entrepreneurial sales professional with experience as a hunter of new business and one who wants the opportunity to build a substantial income in their own territory. Experience in the redistribution business is a plus.  The successful candidate will strengthen market presence in their assigned territory by finding opportunities to provide solutions within the redistribution market.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and close new business from new customers within their territory, ultimately growing a territory into a profit generator for the organization
  • Services existing customers while growing portfolio via service and penetration strategies 
  • Plans how to establish and maintain major account relationships and meet personal sales targets within the full line of products or combination of products
  • Develops business plan for each account
  • Coordinates use of other company resources (e.g. technical, advertising) to provide value added services to accounts
  • Develops strong client relationships over time that provide significant input to planning company product, price, and service strategies
  • Supports supervisor and other sales professionals in developing new market opportunities in the designated territory or market
  • Solicits new business opportunities within territory. Prepares quotes, estimates, and maintains pricing files in P2P
  • Provides analysis and information on sales forecast and budget preparation

Required Skills

  • Ability and track record of developing and executing a sales plan to reach target accounts
  • Innovative problem solver; recognizing customer needs, providing alternatives and selling and implementing alternative solutions
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively manage a sales territory and the selling process
  • Ability and willingness to prospect for new distribution business

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of outside B2B sales experience in the Facility Solutions industry/sector
  • BS/BA degree in Business Administration or other discipline preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Industry knowledge of the jan/san, foodservice or industrial distribution segments required
  • Distribution Sales experience or strong knowledge of the distribution model
  • Successful track record of growing a territory and sales
  • Experience providing custom products and consultative sales solutions based on providing value, not just price driven
  • Familiar with and preferably direct experience in calling on Janitorial, Medical, Industrial and Foodservice distributors
