Position Description

SHIFT: Sunday to Thursday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, this position also requires flexibility to replace other Supervisor's shifts when required.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Supervise all picking/ receiving/delivery/inventory control activities while respecting set budgets and keeping interruptions in customer service to a minimum. To manage warehouse employees while maintaining a good working environment and promoting occupational health and safety.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focus on inventory control, health & safety, employee performance
  • On boarding of new employees
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to all warehouse employees
  • Promote a culture of safety at every opportunity with employees. Ensure safety procedures are being followed strictly and that work is performed in a safe and efficient manner
  • Supervise the daily work flow in the areas of order filling, picking, receiving and truck loading
  • Identify process improvements, increase efficiency and productivity to achieve budget targets and operational metrics
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective internal and external customer service
  • Ensure standard productivity and error standards are consistently met
  • Provide orientation and ongoing training
  • Assess manpower requirements necessary to maintain established service levels
  • Additional tasks as seen fit by the business needs

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • PC and computer systems knowledge is necessary
  • Personal strengths include exceptional leadership and interpersonal communication abilities, self-motivation and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in general warehouse practices and procedures related to the order filling and delivery functions (WMS, Routing, etc.)
  • Ability to work on changing shifts 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Post secondary education in operational management preferred or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience within distribution/operations industry
  • Experience in dry storage environments preferred
  • Experience in developing safety programs & quality control systems (an asset)
