Job Summary and Scope:
The strategic account manager manages the team of Veritiv employees that works directly with customer and Veritiv business leaders, and acts as liaison across business units, to develop supply chain solutions for clients and prospective clients. The position is charged with identifying and defining new business opportunities within existing and prospective accounts. Responsible for the collection, analysis, review, documentation and communication of business needs and requirements for discovery processes and on-going business reviews. Effectively and accurately scopes length and difficulty of tasks and activities of small or large projects. Successfully uses methodology and project tools to accomplish tasks. Involved in developing internal processes and controls to ensure service requirements are met. Competent to work on all phases of analysis while considering the business implications of the application of processes to the current and future business environment. Instruct and/or act as a team leader. 6+ years of experience.
Lead the process to identify and evaluate opportunities by assessing the viability and profitability of customer targets for the Veritiv Strategic Account program. Act as a consultant to the sales teams to ensure that opportunities are a good fit for the Veritiv service model.
Initiate and lead discovery process which includes product sourcing, pricing, process mapping, data integration, service modeling, cost savings, and implementation plans to assess and win strategic accounts.
Analyze customer needs in accordance with pricing, supply chain, inventory, and logistics management, inventory management and the level of direct support the customer will need to provide a program that will meet or exceed their needs and create a long term profitable growth oriented relationship for both the Customer and Veritiv.
Present the Strategic Account Program to prospective customers.
Lead the development and implementation of processes and support systems to effectively integrate and service newly acquired accounts
Monitor and adapt relationships with clients to profitably grow Veritiv’s share of the client’s business.
Develop customer service and procurement models within the territory to drive growth within the Strategic account customer niche and work closely with Veritiv warehouse managers to seek process improvements within the programs.
Manage team of on-site account managers to ensure relationship with customers stays strong and viable and lead the team to seek and implement improvements that will provide cost savings to the customer and Veritiv.
Coach team to develop relationships with the Veritiv sales staff and vendor partners to drive highest level of value to clients
Direct the preparation of monthly reports for the Veritiv and customer management groups.
Monitor service levels for strategic account customers. Manage potential service model changes to ensure smooth operational efficiencies and efficient use of Veritiv dedicated resources.
Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with Customers to report cost-savings and demonstrate value of the Strategic program, maintain strong relationships, and assess additional opportunities. Consult and manage directly with the customer at a high level to develop and modify the strategic account programs to meet their needs.
Conduct internal account reviews with Veritiv sales management teams to provide updates on project details and to collaborate on growth opportunities. Ensure programs have acceptable gross profit margin and increasing sales.
Present inventory and sales data to senior territory leadership for the purpose of reviewing profitability of programs.
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:
Required - Extreme proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively, think strategically, coach and lead teams, possess strong relationship skills, adapt to change, and manage time effectively in a fast paced environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field.
5-8 years experience in areas of purchasing, supply chain, and/or inventory management.
Experience managing remote employees.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirement:
Must be able to work safely in a production/warehouse environment.
Accountable to direct strategic account on-site service teams on a daily basis.
