Develops departmental plans and prioritizes to meet demand.
Leads engagement initiatives
Manages activities through team leads, professional staff, or operation staff; may manage indirect staff

Additional Responsibilities (Overall Oversight)
Provide overall planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise regarding computer and other services such a VMWare including acting as a liaison to outsourced providers both internal to Veritiv and 3rd party vendors.
Provided oversight of the team for troubleshooting, configuration and maintenance of complex systems, including assistance to customer technical resources.
Assess need for any reconfigurations (minor or significant) and provide management of to execute them as required in accordance with change control policy.
Participate with the different development teams on roadmap planning, including recommending, and scheduling.
Support and coordinate platform specific technologies related implementation activities across various functional managers.
Partners with the business managers in planning, executing technical tasks such as conversions, interfaces, integration, issue resolution, assessment of system environment readiness, and installation.
Provides overall project management assuring that the milestones for the project are being met through mentoring internal and customers’ technical resources on the project.
Provides high level project management with the technical tasks associated with the implementation of the business solutions in a complex environment assuring the timely and quality completion of the deliverables.
Responsible for understanding future Veritiv product strategy/direction and apply towards solutions development and ongoing product lifecycle.
Evaluates project for process improvements and makes recommendations in continuous quality improvement and leads the implementation of process changes and quality improvement initiatives.
Provides recommendations on the process improvements related to implementation processes and leads the efforts to create improvements
Extensive knowledge and understanding of Windows Client and Server Operating systems included XP, Vista, Server 2003 & 2008, 2012 (32 and 64 Bit).
Strong knowledge and experience with SQL databases.
Expert knowledge and understanding of operating systems, including devices and device drivers, file system concepts, volume management, performance analysis to tune systems, and system security. Expert knowledge and experience with Active Directory implementation and maintenance.
Strong understanding of networking and storage. Strong understanding of enterprise applications, database, and messaging solutions.
Extensive knowledge and experience working in a virtualized environment (VMWare).
Expert understanding of the broader impact of work efforts across architectural system components, critical business processes and applications. Establishing technology directions and determining architectural approaches to achieve business needs.
Strong knowledge of scripting.
VMWare experience a plus
Experience with Cisco UCS Blade Technology a plus
Evaluate new and emerging technologies to support business needs.
Establish development and administration standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Information Systems, other related field or equivalent work experience.
Typically has 10 to 12 years of IT work experience.
5 to 7 years experience in a leadership role.

Prior Management small budgets of ~$3M to $10M
