Position Description

Summary & Scope

The Operations/Logistics Manager will be responsible for operational oversight of 14 All American Containers warehouses located throughout the United States. This position will assist the business in exceeding financial and strategic goals by playing an active role as a key member of the lead team. Provide oversight, supervision, direction and leadership to raise the standard of performance in meeting the goals of our internal and external customers in all locations.  Plan, direct and monitor operations of the warehouses and delivery system (including shipping, receiving, and inventory control) to ensure a competitive service advantage by maintaining a high degree of accuracy and customer service at a minimal cost.


  • Drive a culture of Safety by evaluating current state, introduce and/or reinforce programs to ensure safety of all personnel, equipment, and property.  Includes understanding and complying with OSHA, DOT, EPA and other government regulations.  Ensure safety training is presented to personnel as needed.  Ensure all  work related  injuries and near misses are properly reported.  Responsible for conducting accident investigations as they pertain to the warehouse operations.
  • Ensure inventory levels and customer service goals are established and maintained.
  • Evaluate and disposition excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Implement company policies and procedures according to company guidelines.
  • Maintenance of Facility and Equipment:  schedule routine maintenance on building, warehouse and delivery equipment as needed.  Develop procedures to ensure the efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment.  Monitor cleanliness and working condition of all equipment (fork lifts, order pickers, etc.) and oversee adjustments and/or repairs as necessary.  Plan the quantity and type of equipment to meet business needs and minimize costs.  Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Achieving Handling and Delivery Functions with Financial Budgets and Operating Performance Measures (OPM):  develop and direct programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility.  Plan and schedule all distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping, delivery, cutting room and handling returned/damaged goods, to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient manner.  Ensure accurate inventory control of each product in the distribution center.  Establish picking error measurement and programs to improve accuracy.  Establish and maintain an extensive cycle count program.
  • Plans and coordinates work activities of warehouse functions (directly and through supervisors), including receiving, picking, shipping, delivery, security, and inventory control.
  • Leads selection and hiring of new warehouse and delivery employees and supervisors; evaluates employee performance according to specific company guidelines; develops and implements action plans for improving all employees.
  • Maintains and controls the physical condition of the warehouse and delivery equipment, supplies, security, facilities, grounds, etc.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing quality and productivity improvement programs throughout the supply chain.
  • Develop, document, and distribute “best practices” and key performance benchmark for all warehouse operations consistent with their systems, complexity, and size.


  • College degree or equivalent work experience required. 
  • 7-10 years distribution center experience in a supervisory/management capacity.  Previous successful supervisory experience required.
  • Detailed knowledge of material handling equipment specifications, lease structures, asset tracking, and maintenance requirements.
  • Experience in key performance metrics design & development, utilizing latest technologies and business/operations understanding.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, solve complex problems, and support change.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, VBA, ODBC Connections), Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • A thorough understanding of warehouse, delivery, and traffic operations within a distribution setting, as well as government regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, HazMat, etc.).  Ability to develop proficiency with company computer system is essential.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, including but not limited to performance management (employee evaluations, discipline, corrective action, coaching), and interviewing are required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Strong planning, organization, and customer relations skills.
