Position Description

Job Summary and Scope: Overall scope for this role is to perform warehousing, operational and customer service related tasks.  These include but are not limited to; receiving product, storing product, picking product (filling orders), preparing product for shipment, general housekeeping, completing appropriate required paperwork, operating material handling equipment safely, and loading commercial or customer vehicles with product as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs job responsibilities in accordance with Veritiv’s Values at all times.
  • Inspects, fills and stages orders in accurate, thorough and efficient manner in accordance with established company standards and procedures and by the correct unit of measure.
  • Receives, stocks, and re-warehouses merchandise on a daily basis as requested by immediate supervisors. Understands warehouse locator system.
  • Inspects merchandise to include checking for shortages and rejecting damaged goods.
  • Communicates shortages of merchandise through proper channels to ensure accurate billing.
  • Maintains inventory controls and quality service by following organization standards.
  • Prepares product for shipment to include proper packaging, labeling and marking for accurate and safe shipping.
  • Knowledgeable about safe work practices, policies and procedures and performs all duties in a safe manner.  Active role in ensuring safety program compliance with the objective of an incident/accident free work place. 
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Performs equipment safety review. Reports any violations or hazards to management immediately.
  • Handles stock in a careful and safe manner; conscious of quality and eliminating damage.
  • Operates assigned warehouse equipment in performing the functions of the job
  • Assists with routing and selection of delivery options and requirements
  • Customer service  as required by the location needs.
  • Participates in location inventory counting.
  • Completes reports by entering required information.
  • Assists customers with loading product, picking up will calls and delivering product to inside office employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Experience/Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education and related experience
  • Proficient math skills in unit of measurement and multiplication, division, addition and  subtraction
  • 1-2 years of previous warehouse experience in a distribution environment desirable
  • Able to operate Material Handling Equipment including a pallet jack and/or fork lift. 
  • PC proficient in Windows based software programs specifically Microsoft Office. 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy work: requires ability to continually lift, push, pull at least 60 pounds or over of product and occasionally in excess of 100 pounds up to 160 pounds of product.
  • Physical activities required of this job include, but are not limited to: climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, talking and walking.
  • Work may be performed in unheated and/or un-air-conditioned warehouse. Employee may be exposed to cold, heat, damp, or humid conditions. May work around moving machinery, such as forklifts and pallet jacks. May be exposed to exhaust fumes and paper dust. Noise level in work environment can be loud. 
  • Environment/equipment includes Electric and manual pallet jacks, order pickers, hand trucks, stand-up reaches, fork lifts, computers, laser guns, truck/trailer lift gates, loading ramps, dock plates and other equipment as assigned.
