Position Description

Job Summary and Scope: 

The Risk Underwriter I will be responsible for providing credit analysis of both perspective and existing customers for customers up to a certain dollar threshold using scorecards and other credit resources.  The incumbent must be willing to work in a fast paced environment and also be detailed oriented and highly organized.

Job Responsibilities

  • Risk analysis including performing reviewing Credit agency reports to review a prospective customer’s credit rating. Have the ability to learn basic analytical skills in financial statement analysis to determine the company’s viability in terms of financial strength and lending capacity.
  • Obtain financial reports (SEC, SEDAR, Moody’s, CRM, etc) and spread these financial statements on specific financial software.
  • Complete project work relating to the risk and finance group when required.
  • Must be able to handle high volume of work and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Bachelors Degree ( Finance, Accounting or related field )
  • 3 years Experience
  • Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of understanding external reports from various agencies such as SEC Filings, Moody’s, S&Ps, Fitch and Hoovers, CRM & Dun and Bradstreet.
  • Basic knowledge of reviewing financial statements and understanding key performance ratios in evaluating financials.
  • Proficient in excel and access is desirable.
  • Must be a self-starter, results driven, and capable of working autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Positive and professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a variety of team members in various departments
