Job Summary and Scope:
The Risk Underwriter II will be responsible for providing comprehensive credit analysis of both perspective and existing customers. Risk analysis includes reviewing Credit reports from various credit agencies as well as other internal and external data to determine credit worthiness of commercial accounts.
In addition, the incumbent must possess good financial analysis skills that include the ability to understand and analyze financial statements.
Risk analysis including performing P&L, Balance sheet & cash flow analysis, industry analysis to determine the company’s viability in terms of financial strength and lending capacity.
Obtain financial reports (SEC, SEDAR, Moody’s, CRM, etc) and input these financial statements on specific financial software.
Perform various reporting for a variety of finance related projects that includes bad debt, BBC, Credit reviews, etc.
Complete project work relating to the risk and finance group when required.
Conduct customer meetings and conference calls with varying level of customers from small partnerships to medium size companies to obtain relevant financial information.
Ability to be self starter and handle a designated portfolio of customers to ensure customer focus and provide collaboration with external and internal customers to meet the desired results.
Must be able to handle high volume of work and meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:
Bachelor Degree ( Finance, Accounting or related field)
5+ Years in Underwriting or a related Finance role
Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of understanding external reports from various agencies such as SEC Filings, Moody’s, S&Ps, Fitch and Hoovers, CRM & Dun and Bradstreet.
Experience required in conducting customer meetings to obtain financial information from varying level of clientele across North America is a benefit.
Good knowledge of reviewing financial statements and understanding key performance ratios in evaluating financials.
Experience of reviewing foreign financial statements and understanding accounting policies across various countries.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; strong attention to detail.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirement:
Limited (<10%) travel but would include Mexico and Canada if required.
