Job Summary and Scope:
Supervises the daily work schedules of all transportation drivers. Responsible for the combination of loading, shipping and delivery of products. Ensures the efficient operation and utilization of all transportation equipment. Monitors cleanliness and working conditions of equipment. Uses analytical data and operational metrics to supervise drivers and equipment to meet delivery needs and minimize costs. Works with the routing team to improve delivery strategies and to achieve distribution objectives while meeting customer requirements. Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all sales, management, customer service, office personnel, and customers.
Support and reinforce programs to ensure safety of all personnel, equipment, and property to comply with OSHA, DOT, EPA and other government regulations including food safety program. Provides training as appropriate.
Plan and coordinate work activities to transportation drivers and transportation coordinator and possibly other team members.
Ensure that employees receive proper training and skills development.
Provide direction for the loading of trucks and delivery of orders in conformance with best practices and procedural compliance.
Ability to motivate, supervise, counsel, and discipline subordinates.
Promote a positive teamwork environment between departments and among employees. Delegate and distribute assignments and decisions appropriately.
Create and enables a work environment in which employees are welcomed to share ideas while accepting ownership of the local culture that promotes teamwork and positive growth.
Proactively work on productivity improvement while minimizing facility expenses.
Review and drive behaviours based on company metrics and initiatives.
All drivers and transportation coordinator.
A thorough understanding of delivery, warehouse and traffic operations within a distribution setting (e.g., DOT, OSHA, HazMat, Food Safety, etc.).
PC proficient in Windows based software programs. Electronic Log tracking and Warehouse Management System (WMS) along with routing experience a plus.
Strong planning, organization, and customer relations skills are required
Ability to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
Excellent leadership, customer relations and interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to motivate team, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
5+ years of successful transportation and distribution supervisory/management experience.

A portion of the incumbent's job responsibilities will require computer keyboard work that involves the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for frequent periods of time. The incumbent is required to talk, see and hear.
Normal warehouse and office working conditions. Equipment: telephone, personal computer, calculator, etc. Some exposure to weather elements us to open shipping/receiving dock area. Temperature maintenance monitored to increase air circulation in hot conditions and overhead heating unit for cold conditions.
