Position Description

Job Summary and Scope:

The Risk Underwriter III will be responsible for providing comprehensive risk underwriting of both perspective and existing customers for the Veritiv customer base on a global basis and provide managerial leadership to other analysts within the department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Risk analysis including performing P&L, Balance sheet & cash flow analysis, industry analysis and an understanding of worldwide accounting policies as well as economic evaluation to determine the company’s viability in terms of financial strength and lending capacity.
  • Oversee and performing reporting for a variety of finance related projects that includes bad debt, BBC, Credit Reviews.
  • Conduct customer meetings and conference calls with varying level of customers from small partnerships to large public companies to obtain relevant financial information.
  • Ability to review current processes and provide feedback to management for streamline and optimization of work processes.
  • Must be able to handle high volume of work and meet tight deadlines and posses the ability to be action orientated.
  • Review customer scorecards for effectiveness vs. current sales climate and be able to make recommendations to adjust the scorecards as needed to deliver the required results.

Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:

  • BA in Finance, Accounting (or related field)
  • MBA or Masters in Finance/Accounting (or related field) preferred
  • 5-8 years Experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish or French beneficial
  • Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of understanding external reports from various agencies such as SEC Filings, Moody’s, S&Ps, Fitch and Hoovers, CRM & Dun and Bradstreet.
  • Experience required in conducting customer meetings to obtain financial information from varying level of clientele across North America.
  • Extensive knowledge of reviewing financial statements.
  • Experience in performing work out plans with customers.
  • Project Management knowledge (Preferred)

Working Conditions/Physical Requirement:

  • Limited (<20%) travel but would include Mexico and Canada if required.
