Job Title: Design Technician
Reports to: Regional Design Manager
Level: PL 4
Location: Chandler, AZ
Job Summary and Scope:
The Design Technician position is in place to support Veritiv’s customer’s needs in the realm of package prototyping. The technician will utilize materials and equipment on hand to produce prototypes of existing and new packaging designs. These prototypes need to be well constructed to facilitate meaningful evaluation of ascetics and utility with both internal and external stakeholders. There will be a moderate level of cross-functional interaction with team members in design, sourcing, quality, and sales potentially including customers.
Job Responsibilities: Briefly describe what this person would be accountable for in their performance reviews (e.g., project implementation, report creation, process management, trade-off decisions). List the accountabilities in order of importance to the enterprise.
Create prototypes from CAD files or specification drawings or other instructions
Utilize prototyping equipment such as CAM cutting tables, CNC, 3D printers, hot melt glue guns, hot air welding devices, thermoformers, and others.
Operate Material Handling Equipment
Assisting with performance of package testing as required
Assemble packaging for testing or other evaluation purposes.
Simple specification of packaging components as instructed.
Basic use of varions software including Adobe products, Esko ArtiosCAD, Solidworks, and others.
Generating basic reports as instructed.
Shipping and receiving of packages.
Maintain inventory of related supplies
Maintain cleaniness and safety of work area.
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:
Associates in related technical field(Drafting,Machining,Math,Etc.).
General familiarity with equipment and machinery.
Specific experience or certification with equipment is a plus but not required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirement:
Office and Warehouse Environments
Handling heavy packages and equipment.
Use of Material Handling Equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
Working at moderate heights.
Requirement for use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
This position will provide input only on equipment maintenance.
This position will provide input only on purchase of equipment or inventory.
