Position Description

Position Summary:

The Business Analyst will work closely with Functional and Cross Functional Business Leads, Developers, Project Managers, Quality Assurance and system users. The BA will focus on projects, system enhancements and process enhancements that will increase the efficiency of the company. The BA may also be called upon in a trouble shooting role in support of existing applications.

This position primarily supports the Marketing, Communications, and Sales areas but can be assigned to others areas as knowledge base expands

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify the business needs of both clients and stakeholders to help determine solutions to business and financial problems,
  • Identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes is circumstances or events,
  • Identify the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts,
  • Observe, receiving, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources,
  •  Model (documenting) the current As-Is and the future To-Be business processes and models,
  •  Perform gap analyses,
  • Analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solutions to solve problems 
  • Ensure research, analysis, and development of findings are completed in support of the established program initiatives,
  • Provide the Project Team with business advice and expertise in the development of re-engineering strategies,
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems,
  • Work with systems development team to ensure delivery to the required specifications as it relates to the specific project,
  • Participate in the creation and execution of formal acceptance test plans,
  • Report activity status at a frequency requested by the Project Manager,
  • Assist in the development and updating of Project Charters, schedules and other plans (i.e. statements of work) as required, including change control,
  • Facilitate the stakeholder communications processes; and,
  • Manage assigned project activities to meet the timelines, budget, and stakeholder requirements/quality set out in the approved Project Charter, schedule and other plans.

  • Ability to analyze financial and operational information to optimize efficiencies and results,
  • Ability to translate or explain what the information means and how it can be used to all stakeholders,
  • Business requirements analysis,
  • Process mapping/modeling,
  • Business process requirements and system requirements (i.e. solution options),
  • Facilitation of focus groups (public and professional),
  • Writing Business and Functional requirements documentation,
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking,
  • Networking and cultivating productive working relationships,
  • Time management, prioritization and organization with the ability to prioritize activities and lead multiple tasks at once,
  • Communication (written & oral) and facilitation; and,
  • Working with all levels within an organization including senior executives, managers, front lines, corporate and technical staff.

Required Experience/Education: (List years of experience, education/certification (minimum and preferred), prior required experience, etc. Identify specific tools or equipment used to perform the job)

  • A minimum three (3) years Business/Financial Analyst experience functioning in a formal program / project management environment,
  • Experience in utilizing Business Analysis tools
  • Experience with Sales, Marketing, CRM, and Project Management software applications
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio and Access,
  • Creation of Business Impact Assessments.

Desired Skills Experience/Education:

  • Applying process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, etc)
  • User and/or support experience with Brainshark, Marketo, Workfront, and Salesforce

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: (Describe any unusual working conditions, such as extreme temperatures, heights, hazardous materials, etc. State percentage of time spent travelling each month, if any)

  • Expected travel – 10%
