Position Description

Job Summary and Scope:

Leads the Enterprise Voice Network team that supports these environments. Responsible for managing day-to-day operations of direct reports and the conducting scheduled performance reviews. Duties include but not limited to technical architecture, design activities and focus on reducing costs and improving service through improved processes and effective application of information technologies consistent with the business and IT strategies. Provide leadership, development and guidance for technical staff. Scope of responsibility includes support, architecture, analysis, and assistance with strategy and design of the following enterprise infrastructure and operations areas: Voice Communications Network and systems (VoIP), Call Center technologies (UCCE) and a variety of phone systems, Video Telepresence technologies (focusing on Cisco collaboration suite of tools), Enterprise voicemail infrastructure (Cisco and Avaya), Audio Conferencing service (Cisco  Webex), collaboration technologies, performance management platforms and tools, and more.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing team that provides extensive support and maintenance required to optimize the Enterprise technology to meet demanding business goals. Will drive and influence architecture and strategy decision to align with Business requirements and growth

  • Managerial and technical Subject matter expert supporting the Voice Communications team. Co-development of strategy, architecture, & design activities for Enterprise Voice infrastructure, utilizing subject matter experts from the functional areas as well as external resources such as vendors, research firms, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring monitoring, troubleshooting, design engineering and problem resolution of large Voice Cisco environment (UCCE servers, SIP service, and integrated traditional VoIP services) in a complex, challenging operational environment.
  • Document problems and report to management, engineers and/or peers.
  • Coordinate and implement network changes including building configurations as necessary.
  • Compile statistics and reports as necessary on network performance and utilization.
  • Will oversee the installation and configuration of technical components and supporting software. Will own support issues, and small to large high-profile projects as required.
  • Maintain Voice infrastructure including physical swapping of hardware, cards and modules.

    Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and business potential or impact (including prototyping)
  • May submit business cases for investment prioritization and justification
  • Evaluate and influence selection of vendors & products, facilitate proof of concept analysis
  • Participate in Architectural Review Process, ensuring architecture & design reviews are approved prior to implementation into production
  • Participate in any necessary Governance Committees, representing Enterprise Communication
  •  Leadership and mentoring to less skilled team members

Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS or BA)
  • 15 years’ experience in technology infrastructure, including engineering support, architecture, design, implementation, and operations
  • Cisco CCNA level certification preferred
  • Comprehensive hands-on experience working with Cisco UCCE, Webex, Avaya 8700
  • Hands on experience with Cisco UCCE configurations and troubleshooting
  •  Ability to perform complex troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose, and correct voice network problems
  • Strong customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Extensive knowledge of Voice Network environment and experience working with a variety of Voice technologies
  • Hands-on experience working with Cisco Voice services (UCCE, Webex and Unity)
  • Experience working with VoIP protocols (SIP, SBC and Hosted audio)
  • Working knowledge of various network protocols including: SIP, H323, IP
  • Knowledge of some IP routing protocols
  • Knowledge of Voice communications mediums including hosted and premise-based solutions
  • Ability to support a global 24x7 operation; includes on-call schedule

  • May require some travel.
