Position Description

The positions will be for Vendor Managed Inventory Associate. They will live and work in the Norfolk area. This position is onsite at a customer location and requires the ability to obtain military clearances.   Order replenishment stock that will be received into a central holding area Fulfill the stock into the  multiple customer locations (closets) from that central holding area This position requires taking stock up several flights of stairs (on a power dolly) and via elevators in 30+ buildings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • This position is onsite at a customer location and requires the ability to obtain military clearances.
  • Order replenishment stock that will be received into a central holding area
  • Fulfill the stock into the  multiple customer locations (closets) from that central holding area
  • This position requires taking stock up several flights of stairs (on a power dolly) and via elevators in 30+ buildings.
  • Driving and walking outside in all weather conditions.
  • The safety training will be extensive
  • Inspects , fills and stages orders in accurate, thorough and efficient manner in accordance with established Company standards and procedures. Understands unit of measure.
  • Inspects merchandise to include checking for shortages and rejecting damaged goods.
  • Communicates shortages of merchandise through proper channels to ensure accurate billing.
  • Receives, stocks, and re-warehouses merchandise on a daily basis as requested by immediate supervisors. Understands warehouse locator system.
  • Prepares product for delivery into closets to include packaging for safe shipping, plus labeling and marking.
  • Uses tape sealing equipment and shrink film.
  • Handles stock in a careful and safe manner; conscious of quality and eliminating damage.
  • Practices and adheres to established safety rules and policies, as well as, established housekeeping standards. Performs equipment safety review. Reports any violations or hazards to management immediately.
  • Operates assigned warehouse equipment in performing the functions of the job
  • Participates in scheduled cycle counts and physical inventory as required.

Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience: 

  • AS400 system helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential.
  • Good interpersonal and conflict management skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer relations skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks are required.
  • Technical Skills/Desktop/PC Software-Microsoft Office developing required
  • High school diploma or equivalent education and related experience
  • Proficient math skills in unit of measurement and multiplication, division, addition, subtraction
  • One to two years previous warehouse experience in distribution environment desirable
  • Experience operating distribution warehouse material handling equipment (see below)
  • Experience working in an electronic/computer work environment 
  • Must able to work independelty with safety and efficiency goals in the forefront.
  • Must be self-starter, and able to effectively manage time/activities
  • Must be comfortable with using an iPad
  • Must have a valid driver’s license – without excessive moving violations.
  • Must be able safely operate a step-van.
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical/certification processes

  • Heavy work: requires ability to continually lift, push, pull at least 50 pounds or over of product and occasionally in excess of 100 pounds up to 160 pounds of product using prescribed team lift procedure.
  • Physical activities required of this job include, but are not limited to: climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, talking, walking. 

Work Environment

Work performed in unheated and/or un-air-conditioned warehouse. Employee may be exposed to cold, heat, damp, or humid conditions. Will work around moving machinery, such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Will be exposed to exhaust fumes and paper dust. Noise level in work environment often loud. 

Equipment, Tools, Devices Used To Perform All Functions Of The Job

Electric and manual pallet jacks, order pickers, hand trucks, stand-up reaches, fork lifts, Taylor Dunns, computers (RDT and VDT), laser guns, slip sheeter, roll grabbers, truck/trailer lift gates, loading ramps, dock plates and other equipment as assigned.
