Position Description

Dependent upon final candidate assessment, this role may change to a PL16

The Product Manager plays a critical role in supporting the sales growth and profitability improvement of the Print business. Responsible for the delivery of the P&L for a category within the Print Business. Will drive the construction of the Category strategy and be the key contact person with the markets he/she operates in to deliver results.  He/She will support the execution of category activation, marketing strategy/plan within the North American market. The role leverage links between the multiple corporate functional partners within the business and the FS&O (field sales and operations) organization. The role works closely with the Regional Segment Managers and the sales teams to deliver plan through superior customer activation and supply chain execution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Category and Product yearly PnL (Top Line, Gross to Net, Gross Profit Margins, Inventory, Synergies and EBITA)
  • Is the face of the category to the Regional Segment Managers, Regional VP’s, GM’s SM’s, sales force and customers
  • Maintain effective relationships across the matrix and work closely with a diverse cross-functional team, leading them in the planning and execution of seasonal marketing plans.

  • Understand margin performance for assigned product categories (manage matrix P&L for product)

  • Identify and communicate trends and key drivers of variation
  • Monitor achievement of volume and margin objectives within the product category
  • Recommend enhancements and/or corrective actions across all elements of the income statement (pricing, sourcing strategy, sales promotions, etc.)
  • Act as key responsible person driving synergies within assigned product category
     

    Create category background and context to inform sourcing strategies

  • Analyze Veritiv spend for the category
  • Understand industry context (supply alternatives, customer substitution, demand trends, etc.)
  • Understand and evaluate distribution landscape (competitors and supply authorization)
  • Work with regional segment managers to understand desired customer value proposition
     

    Identify and document potential sourcing scenarios

  • Impact on supply base – where does volume shift?
  • Work with regional segment managers to identify customer risk and revenue impacts
  • Lead discussions with Veritiv leadership to evaluate sourcing alternatives
  • Act as the key “business stakeholder” as scenarios are deployed
  • Develop strategy and lead supplier negotiations

  • Lead the development of communication materials outlining strategy and objectives for the category
  • Employ both written and presentation slide format
  • Support key assertions with data, 3rd party information, research, etc
  • Must have prior experience in sourcing with strong technical and analytical background.   Experience in a distribution business is desired.

  • Business Knowledge > Distribution Knowledge > required
  • Degrees > Bachelor’s Degree > Business Administration or Technical > required
  • MBA > preferred
  • Functional Experience >  > 5-7 years
  • Strong Analytical Skills Required
  • Technical Skills > PC Software > Microsoft Office > Proficient > required
  • Travel > Travel Availability > up to 15% > required

Working Conditions/Physical Requirement:

  • Sandy Springs – general office conditions

  • Shared P&L ownership responsibility for the assigned category. Shares P&L with the FSO organization
