Job Summary and Scope:
The individual will utilize their experience, problem solving, and analytical skills to help execute Veritiv’s global logistics strategy. This position requires direct contact with our clients, suppliers and service eproviders to ensure a high level of performance in the movement of goods through the supply chain.
Arrange outbound/inbound cargo shipments from start to finish. Communicate with both internal and external customers. Investigate and resolve problem shipments. You will support and lead the department with freight management functions involving both import and export aspects of international transportation be it air, land or sea.
Integral role in operations to assist in moving freight for a wide variety of customers worldwide.
Ability and determination to support large import and export transaction volumes and provide solutions to daily challenges
Alerting, routing, tracking and tracing shipments via various internet tools and updating transportation software system.
Monitor and analyze carriers’ performance based on established KPIs
Support the development of existing and new customers by working closely with your Branch Manager and the entire sales organization
Handling shipments with high level of attention to detail and white glove service requirements and ability to follow standard operating procedures of the company.
The ability to recognize possible and existing service failures, issues and shortages and will need to effectively communicate these situations to management or customer service as needed.
Quoting internal customers, obtaining best routing solutions and rates.
Collaborate and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding air, ocean, import, and export products to strengthen service competitiveness
Aggressive approach with carriers/partners to obtain special rates or spot quotes.
Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies, communicate timely correspondence back to both customers and vendors
Act as a liaison with Veritiv GTC for customs issues
Buils and collect department metrics
Knowledge and adherence to company procedures and policies.
Self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, manage risk, and deal with problems.
Able to work well under pressure.
Ability to follow standard operating procedures and provide input for continuous improvement.
Superior attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and high level of organization approach to work is essential.
Advanced computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word and global transportation management software.
Bachelor degree in logistics or similar field preferred.
5 year global logistics operations experience preferred.
